Bill’s Music

A Catonsville fixture since 1965, Bill’s Music is one of the leading independent music retailers in the United States. Founder Bill Higgins became passionate about music with the introduction of rock and roll in the 1950s. He learned to play Beatles songs on his guitar and opened the store in a small room behind a coin shop. Today, it spans 36,000 square feet just 20 minutes from our community and is filled with the best brands in the industry. The selection includes guitars, banjos, and mandolins.

Bill’s Music also provides lessons on nearly all instruments. They’re held seven days a week, and people of all abilities can join in the fun.

With over 100,000 CDs and thousands of DVDs, CDepot is the largest independent CD store in the Mid-Atlantic region. Visitors spend hours browsing through compilations, boxed sets, and original tracks. New music is added daily, and the selection includes rare and out-of-print CDs that are not found at standard retail stores. CDEpot is located 23 minutes from The Elm’s at Shannon’s Glen.

The Sound Garden

The winner of over fifty “Best Of” record store awards, The Sound Garden features an eclectic selection of music in all genres. Located 26 minutes away, the store’s massive inventory offers new and used CDS including hard-to-find recordings. Visitors can listen to nearly any song before they buy. They’ll also find posters and T-shirts and a friendly staff that enjoys helping everyone find a new artist.

If you have unwanted records, the store will buy them between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM. It pays the most for vinyl and offers twenty percent more for store credit than cash.
