The Queen’s Ink
Located at the historic Savage Mill, The Queen’s Ink offers the highest quality artisan papers and art supplies for all mediums. The staff searches for new and unique items and strives to help customers refine their techniques and reform their art. Choices include rubber stamps, art crayons, and acrylic paint.
The shop also welcomes artists from across the country to teach classes for all abilities. The classroom features 20-foot windows for natural light, and upcoming workshops include Journal Junkies and Paper Clay Sculpting. You’ll find The Queen’s Ink a 13-minute drive away from our Jessup apartments.
Spring Water Designs
When Dawn Stewart began quilting over 20 years ago, she had no idea that one day she’d own a store. Spring Water Designs opened in 2009, and soon after, Dawn’s designs began appearing in prestigious quilting magazines. Today, Dawn works alongside her daughter and sources the best products on the market. Items include batting, fabric, and embellishments.
Spring Water also offers classes throughout the week. The schedule rotates, and upcoming classes include Binding 101, Beginning Quilt Piecing, and College Quilt. The shop is 16 minutes from our apartment community.
Voted best yarn shop in Baltimore, Lovelyarns specializes in independent dyed yarn and fiber. Owner Melissa Salzman began knitting as a young girl. She enjoys creating while watching television and makes everything from scarves to sweaters. Yarn can be purchased by the gram, and other items include needles and patterns.
Those who would like to enhance their skills can take classes ranging from beginning knitting to jewelry making. Class sizes are limited to six students, and materials are offered at 10 percent off. Lovelyarns is a 26-minute drive away.
