Eubie Blake National Jazz & Cultural Center
The Eubie Blake National Jazz & Cultural Center brings artists and audiences together. As one of the city’s premier arts destinations, it develops and promotes fun events and educational opportunities. The center is named after Eubie Blake, who was born in Baltimore in 1887. He became passionate about music at a young age when he first played his family’s pump organ. He went on to pioneer ragtime and wrote the Broadway musical Shuffle Along in 1921. On the center’s fourth floor, visitors find Eubie Live. This intimate venue highlights local artists who perform jazz, classical, neo-soul, and other genres.
Maiwand Grill brings a taste of Afghanistan to Maryland. The chefs use local ingredients and spices and family recipes passed down for generations. Guests enjoy fast service, and the restaurant offers a warm, casual setting. Popular menu offerings include Afghan burgers, tandoori shrimp, and chicken kofta kabobs.
